Spring is here and it's time to LAYER

So, Spring is on its way and I could not be happier about the warm weather (hopefully) coming soon. With that being said us Canadians don’t get instant relief; Toronto weather is notorious for changing its mind often meaning we have to be prepared for anything. Which brings me to the topic of today’s post, layering.

This outfit is a very clear example of what I wear on a daily basis. I love the look of a long-sleeved t shirt paired with a short-sleeved graphic over top. This is a good way for added warmth and the striped one I’m wearing here adds a pop to any outfit. The booties I’m wearing are a patent fake leather, which adds some texture to the outfit, and the white laces tie in well with the striped t-shirt. On the bottom, I’m just wearing a pair of skinny black jeans with a frayed hem. I added more layers to the outfit with a black puffer vest, and my favourite black nylon Levis jacket on top. This is not only good for the ever-changing weather, but it is also a trend we have seen on the F/W 2018 Balenciaga runway (they were a bit more over the top with it). As for my accessories, I threw on my trusty black beret and my favourite tiny oval orange sunnies to tie in with the Harley-Davidson logo.

Striped Tee – Value Village
Harley Davidson Tee – Value Village
Jeans – Value Village
Booties – Forever 21
Vest – Value Village
Beret – Amazon

Overall this outfit has many layers that you can remove, or add on throughout the day for any range of weather. It also features one of my favourite colour combos that I have seen trending lately, orange & black.

History of the Maison Margiela Tabi Boots

Today we are going to be talking about one of my favourite brands being Margiela, and more specifically a product that has been forever on my designer wishlist, the Tabi boot. Now if you guys are unaware of this famous boot, fear not I will explain. At first glance they look like a regular black leather boot, but look closer and you see the unique split toe detail that resembles a hoofed foot. I remember the first time I saw a photo of these, and I was instantly taken back, and if we're being honest a little creeped out. But as I kept seeing them the intrigue grew, and I started to understand why these boots were an iconic Margiela staple. So lets take a peak into how these famous shoes became what they are today. The origin of this tabi design dates back to Japan in the 1400s. Originally they were split toe socks made to be worn with thong sandals, and were made when Japan began importing cotton from China. Marin Margiela first discovered this silhouette while on a trip ...

Swedish brand Eytys and their take on the platform sneaker trend

Hey guys, today’s blog post is going to be on a new brand I have discovered called Eytys . This Swedish based brand is collaborating with many of the top fashion influencers (for example Kailee Mckenzie ) so I figured they were worth checking out. One of their most popularized items I’ve seen is their  Angel shoe (which I am completely obsessed with). The shoe is a play on the platform dad sneaker trend that everyone has been loving this season, but if were being honest who can afford Balenciaga’s Triple S sneakers? Even though the Angel shoe is still at a high price point of $340.00 US, this seems a bit more attainable for those of us not wanting to dish out 900+ for a trend that probably won’t last much longer. Not only is the price more attractive, the versions of this shoe are much more subdued and could remain a classic in your shoe collection. They have 4 different variations of the shoe, one being a black leather pair, the second a tan suede, a...

Haute Humber Experience

Hey everyone, so today’s blog post is detailing the fashion show I got the chance to go to on Tuesday (the 10 th ) called Haute Humber! First of all, let me just say how proud I am of my school for organizing this event and incorporating so many different programs to make this happen. We had second year Fashion students in charge of organizing the whole event and I was blown away at the production! Such a cool night. JoesephTassoni So first up was Joeseph Tassoni with his entirely red collection. This falls in line with his authentic Canadian production method, with all pieces being made and sourced in Canada. This helps him put out the best quality products that will last a lifetime, and help support the Canadian economy. I love this idea because this means there is no offshore sourcing happening within this brand, and you have heard me mention the horror stories behind offshore sourcing before. I think that Joeseph Tassoni embodies Canadian design and is helping us all realize...
