How the Futurecraft 4D shoe by Adidas will impact our future

T odays blog post is inspired by one of my favourite classes this semester, Ethics and Sustainability. One of our projects included writing a detailed report on an assigned company, regarding their approach to ethical and sustainable practices. Another part of the assignment was to do a presentation on a specific product/product line that is ethical or sustainable. My group got to analyze Adidas, and for our presentation we took a closer look at their new Futurecraft 4D shoe, which leads us to the topic of today’s post. Intro Futurecraft 4D: The Futurecraft 4D may not be accessible to everyone yet (they have only released small quantities to test sales with early adopters) but it is something you want to keep your eye out for. This new shoe will change the game I’m sure of it, sure it is just a regular shoe but the midsole is anything but normal. Adidas has paired up with 3D printing company Carbon to integrate their new Digital Light Synthesis (DLS) 3D printing technolo...

Virgil Abloh for Louis Vuitton Mens?

Have you heard the news? After Louis Vuitton menswear designer Kim Jones stepped down earlier this year we were all left wondering who was going to step up and take his place. Well we have just found out that Vrigil Abloh, founder of OffWhite is the new man for the job. Am I surprised? Not really, after Louis Vuitton’s 2017 collaboration with Supreme you could tell the brand was trying to re-identify itself in the minds of millennial consumers. I think that this move makes sense as you see the influence of streetwear taking over the runways. (example Vetements, Gosha Rubchinksy, the newest Balenciaga collections) But with all this being said is Virgil (in my opinion) the best pick? Honestly, I would say no. Don’t get me wrong I have really enjoyed all of his womenswear collections, and I think what he i...

My Favourite Fashion Books

Growing up I’ve always had a large fascination with reading books and magazines, now I know we all know about all the famous fashion magazines (all the Vogues, Harpers Bazaar, Elle, Vanity Fair etc) but what about the books? Over the past year I have started to look into, and begun to collect some fashion books and I figured I would share some of my favourites. Book 1:Grace a Memoir This book is a collection of life stories from the Creative Director at Vogue, Grace Coddington. Now if you don’t know who she is I suggest you watch the September Issue on Netflix, a documentary on all the work that goes into Vogue’s September issue. This film largely focuses on Anna Wintour but also exposes you to new faces behind the scenes, prime example being Grace. After watching Grace take such pride in her work, and stand up to the oh so intimidating Anna (we all remember the Devil Wears Prada was based on her right?) I knew I had to find out more. Within this book Grace details where...
